Tell Me What You’re Searching For And I’ll Help You Look 2023
Tell Me What You’re Searching For and I’ll Help You Look invited members of the public and the surrounding community to participate in a ritual of exchange. A varied edition of 136 trace monoprints with watercolour backgrounds were presented alongside a hand carved table that provided viewers with the instructions to participate.
Responding to the prompted request “tell me what you’re searching for and I’ll help you look”, viewers wrote down on blank pieces of paper the thing that they were searching for and then proceeded to choose a print from the wall. Once they had selected their print they exchanged it for their handwritten note, leaving it behind as an offering while taking with them the piece of art to keep.
Once all prints have been exchanged the notes left behind by those willing to participate will inform a new body of work, translating the text from each one into colour composed across paintings, prints, and sculptures.
